There are some very imaginative level designs thanks to this, my favorite being the shipwreck level where you have to ride a raft through coral reefs. All the Ghouls 'n Ghosts games are like this to some extent, but SGnG is different from it's two predecessors in that it focuses more on platforming and less on giant amounts of enemies (likely as the SNES couldn't handle that many sprites at once), and I think it's a positive change. It's almost a puzzle platformer at times, which helps it stand out from the crowd.

It's very different from most other action platformers: instead of being fast, twitchy and reaction-based, it's fairly slow-moving, and the focus is on outsmarting the enemies rather than overpowering them. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is easily one of the most underrated SNES games.
